LOOKBOOK: REVIEWING 2013

Welcome to Milan!

There is a reason Milan is known as The Design Capital. Around almost every corner are unusual spaces that have been transformed into pockets of inspiration.

SPAZIO ROSSANA ORLANDI

A former tie factory in the Magenta District where the masses congregated in the beautiful courtyard café with their espressos, taking in the design pieces that surrounded them, the Italian way of life.

Naturally, being English, I adopted the 'view on the move' approach so there was no time for that, though it did look very tempting, especially as my feet were falling off!

VILLA NECCHI

My favourite place I visited in Milan was Villa Necchi. Beautifully designed in every corner, it has been my inspiration for design details ever since.

RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
This year I attended my first Chelsea Flower Show. Here are my favourites...

The SeeAbility Garden designed by Darren Hawkes. I love the striking combination of green and deep purple groundcovers mixed together.

The M&G Centenary Garden designed by Roger Platts. Add buxus balls to a country garden to define corners, add structure and create a contemporary space.

The Wasteland designed by Kate Gould. The mix of tiger lillys and hostas with ferns create texture and interest to the woodland style.
BrandAlley Garden designed by Paul Hervey-Brookes. Another successful colour combination, green orange and white.
RBC Blue Water Roof Garden designed by Professor Nigel Dunnett & The Landscape Agency. Have a pond you want to modernise? How about adding planted concrete tubes, it looks so designed doesn't it? Also I love this green wall.. I want one!
B&Q Sentebale Forget-Me-Not Garden designed by Jinny Blom.
The Laurent-Perrier Garden designed by Ulf Nordfjell. My most anticipated garden, I'm always so inspired by Laurent-Perrier.
The Telegraph Garden designed by Christopher Bradley-Hole uses various types of buxus for colour and texture.
I'm a big fan of Liz Earle's products. The fluffy fennel used in the herb garden adds a must have texture.
Stop the Spread designed by Jo Thompson Landscape & Garden Design. I love green gardens. The secret to a successful green garden is mixing various shades and texture.
